Thanks for visiting my website. Here you will find examples of my art
work over the years. I continue to explore different methods and
mediums of painting.
I am also  painting with my "needle" as I am in my 3rd year of
working on a quilt of Valley Forge Park set in 1777-1778.
Painting gives me a great sense of pleasure and accomplishment, it is
truly something that I love to do.
If  you would like to contact me, please do, I would love to hear from
you.

Lois Allen Charles paints in her studio in Pennsylvania. Her artistic passion developed from
childhood when she began painting at eight years of age, an artist who has been drawing and
painting for many years.
Her Olde Philadelphia paintings were created from memories of traveling on the "el", an elevated
train as a young high school grad commuting through the city. These memories of city life,
combined with a study of old photographs developed into a vision translated into pigment. She is
naturally drawn to all things related to the past; settings include neighborhoods filled with life that
are colorful and detailed down to the last brick, cobblestone, and lace curtain. The paintings are
filled with tiny signs, horse and carriages from earlier years that seem frozen in time. Each
painting tells a story.

Her love of quilts and hand quilting has led to painted quilt designs on canvas. Other subjects
have included Valley Forge Revolutionary, Victorian homes, Children, Ireland, and Pennsylvania
Country.
Lois works in acrylic, watercolor, and pastel on paper and canvas as well as textiles.
Her artwork has been in many exhibitions and she has been honored to receive many awards.
Her work is included in many private and public collections including PA State Senator Connie
Williams (D-PA).
Her painting "Summer - Old City circa 1914" has been exhibited in City Hall as part of the "Art of
the City" Exhibition 2007 outside the mayor's office on the 2nd floor - Philadelphia, PA.
Lois is also honored to have her painting entitled "City Hall circa 1910" on the cover of the Winter
2007-2008 issue of the literary magazine "Philadelphia Stories".
Her paintings and prints will be exhibited at the upcoming Chestnut Hill Business Association
