This original took 4 months to paint! I looked at many old photographs from roughly the 1938 time
period of the Philadelphia area representing an Americana city theme. Shops on the street that
include:
Fruit Store, Bell Telephone Company, a church, restaurant, Movie Theater playing BoysTown
(poster shown also) Spencer Tracy plus another sign with Jezebel (poster shown) Bette Davis coming
soon, a Kresge Co 5 & 10 cents, Rexall Drugs, A & P with signs including: leg of lamb 25 cents lb,
potatoes 10 lb bag 19 cents, Self Service sign, and Crisco 1 lb. 18 cents and 3 lb 48 cents.
Plus a Bulletin truck - top only showing, cars of the time period and trucks.
There are many people (30+), and even a policeman directing traffic in the center of the street.
Oh, and the clock is showing 11:08am under the Hill Co. sign on the left side.
This original watercolor painting was painted on 22" x 30" Arches Paper.
